| Information about the eclipse 是次日食資料 |
An annular solar eclipse will take place in the Americas on October 14 local time (October 15 Hong Kong Time). The moon's antumbra will strike Earth near 16:10 UTC (00:10 HKT) in the seas just off the Pacific coast in northern America. It will then move in a southeasterly direction, entering the US state of Oregon several minutes later. The antumbral shadow will move across southwestern US and enter the Gulf of Mexico at around 17:00 UTC (01:00 HKT). Parts of several Central American countries will be along the antumbral path; at around 18:30 UTC (02:30 HKT), the shadow enters South America via Colombia. The track then turns eastwards gradually, passing through northern Brazil. The antumbral shadow will lift off the Earth's surface before 19:50 UTC (03:50 HKT) as the sun sets in eastern Brazil.
While the lunar penumbra covers a much wider region, even partial eclipse is restricted to the Americas only. Certain regions in extreme western Africa may experience a partial solar eclipse in the late afternoon, but the eclipse will not have reached its maximum by sunset.

The next solar eclipse in April 2024 is total and is again visible in North America. In Hong Kong, a partial solar eclipse with a negligible magnitude will occur in July 2028.
